Orthotics
Spinal orthotics are devices that are applied to the body to limit the motion, correct deformity, reduce loading, or improve the function of a particular spinal segment of the body. These devices can range from traditional soft corsets to the sophisticated modular devices that can progress throughout the healing process of spinal surgery. Spinal orthotics work by providing a three-point pressure system, derotational forces and increasing intra-abdominal pressure.
Cervical thoracic orthosis immobilize the cervical area by an extension from the trunk or spinal area to a chin and posterior head piece that apply pressure and limits motion. These devices are used after trauma or post-operatively.
